Princess Maker 5
Greetings, I’m Ephyon, the project editor. To everyone who’s still checking in on us (all three of you) and have no clue what the hell we are doing: First of all, apologies.
Second, here’s what’s up:
- Arlen, our main translator, has been on leave for an indeterminate amount of time since February. That’s not new, he slips back and forth into the project as real life allows him to so it does not mean the project’s death. It does mean we’re stalled indefinitely though, so if anybody else wants to jump in and help us by translating some more stuff, by all means send us a message. As I said before, you don’t have to feel like you’re singing up to any herculean task or will be expected to follow any particular pace.
- Aorf, our hacker, just stopped responding to our messages. Some of you might have tried to download the bintools file and noticed it was down. That’s because he’s the one hosting it, and when it went down, we couldn’t contact him to bring it back up (And I’m a moron and didn’t keep a backup copy). Same thing with the bot that automatically updates the progress bar, he runs that too. You might have noticed the bar went up from 43 to 44 a few weeks ago and that if you try to download the bintools now, you’ll see it’s back up. Does this mean he’s back? Honestly, I have no clue. His services went back up, but he’s still not responding, so I have no idea what his status is. I’m still holding out on whether to ask if anybody wants to step in as our hacker in case he comes back, but be aware that I might ask for help on that area too if he doesn’t respond.
So, that’s the rundown. We’re frozen in place, but not yet dead. Apologies to anybody who is still waiting for this project to finish, but there’s not much else I can do on my end but wait. --Ephyon 14:42, 21 March 2012 (CDT)
Princess Maker 5 is one of Japanese life simulation bishōjo games by the computer game and anime production company Gainax. The player in this game is a retired hero of a human realm parallel to the modern world. The daughter is a girl from a royal heritage, and one of many candidates to assume the role of princess. However, following the assassinations of the other candidates, she became the target as well. Her entire family is killed during the attempt on her life. As her protector, Cube saved the player's daughter and requested the player to take care of the daughter until she reaches the age of 18. So the journey of parenthood unfolds with Cube's help. Everything you do will influence how the child grows up, everything from jobs to schooling all depend on how you raise her. You get to choose her name, birth date, and blood type. Most people realize this is just one of those Tamagotchi games gone wrong, but the folks at Gainax actually made this one amusing.
Previously we linked to the Himeyashop page, unfortunately, Himeyashop has been shut down for some time. If you wish to buy the game, you will likely need to use a forwarding service. We apologize, but we are unable to help with this matter.
This is the amount of japanese characters in scripts translated. There is text in other places than scripts, but there is so little of it that it can be ignored.
To apply translations from this wiki to game use this archive: bintools-1.2 (mirror here). Just extract it to game directory and you're ready to go. There are already some scripts included into archive; put new translated scripts into translations/text directory to make translated text appear in game. After installing patch you don't need to change system locale to Japanese or use applocale tool to run the game.
Please note that although there are some scripts included in this package, they are not intended nor should they be expected to be an official "patch". Many of the files included here were completed before the script format changed, and have yet to receive a second pass after the fact. If you are looking for a sample of the finished product, do not waste your time on this.
