YU-NO: Error Report

From TLWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This is the Error Reporting page for YU-NO - The Girl that Chants Love at the Edge of the World.

Typos, suspected mistranslations, weirdly worded lines, technical errors such as crashes/badly displayed lines should go here.

Reports should have the entire line; and/or ideally the script file in which it occurs in (P01_4.MST) Script files can be located by entering the line in question on the search box to the left.

Note that previously reported errors are in the archives, and that by the very nature of error reporting, you might encounter spoilers. Redundant reports do not present a problem, so do not worry about them.

Please be nice.

Technical related errors[edit]

64bit OS keep getting you have not installed the game error.
Have tried win98/xp compatibility. Have tried running as an administrator. Have tried running the patch as administrator. But AI5ENG_VOICE.exe still gives that error.

Are you in Japanese locale? It works just fine for me with Win 7 64bit. Herkz 14:06, 29 September 2011 (CDT)

Yes I am. Hmm. Perhaps something screwed up the registry? Would you be willing to post your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\elf\CLassic information? Maybe it differs from mine?

I don't even have that (or anything under SOFTWARE for elf). However, I did find this in my logs.
Aug 03 [23:05:08] <kingshriek> I think there's only one registry entry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\elf\Classic\1.0
Aug 03 [23:06:10] <kingshriek> registry entry has InstallDir and InstallExe as values and those need to point to the correct places
Hope this helps.Herkz 15:54, 29 September 2011 (CDT)

When starting the game an error window pop up which says, "Failed to read file," followed by a second window which says, "Failed to close file." These windows pop up 3 times after being closed and then the game starts as normal until I try to save, at which point the aforementioned error windows pop up again. Upon closing the game properly using the "Quit Game" menu selection and reloading I find that the game has not saved. The only option on the home menu is to start from the beginning.

Nevermind, I got it working. I think the problem was the default install directory. It needs to be in installed under C:/Classics and not C:/Program Files/Classics.

The game was installed fine, but when I patched the translation the music was completely removed. Even with the extracted VA and FM tracks packs nothing changed. May I ask what I could be doing wrong? (I´m using a Windows 7)

Try to manually navigate into your CD drive folder, and copy MUSIC.ARC into your YUNO folder yourself. I'd suspect it's missing there right now. --Yu-no project bot 19:19, 6 December 2011 (CST)
The file MUSIC.ARC is in the folder since the installation, and even doing what I you have told me doesn´t change anything. Funny enough, the Japanese (unpatched) version retails the BGMs and plays them fine. Anyway, I´ll attempt installing the game on a WinXP tomorrow, so if I am having the same problem, I´ll let you guys know. Thanks for your attention. EDIT: same issues :-/
Another thing to check is the ini file, AI5ENG.INI. For the game to read the MUSIC.ARC file, bARCBGM=1 and ARCBGMNAME=MUSIC.ARC should be set under [FILE]. Perhaps this file didn't get copied over correctly during patch installation or was modified/corrupted in some manner. --Kingshriek 22:11, 6 December 2011 (CST)
[1]As it can be seen, everything is in proper order. I´m also posting a screenshot of the folder ([2]), as I´m considerating that it may lack an archive or a required program to run BGMs and VA in the patched game (it´s a brand new PC, after all) or, as you´re saying, something could have been improperly modified or corrupted...
  • When I start up the game, it freezes and I am unable to use my computer to anything. I cannot minimize the screen or even start task manager. I have to shut down my computer to get it working again. The strange this is, this doesn't always happen. Sometimes the game works just fine. -Xionic

Voicepatch errors[edit]

If voices are cut out midway, that means that the Saturn version split the line into two voice files. Fixing these entails splicing together the two sound files with an audio editor with an appropriate pause in between.

(For those not fitting in any of the above.)

When searching for Ayumi in the living room during her good ending, clicking on the sofa does absolutely nothing as if there was no text to read. This doesn't happen in her bad ending.
